Together with the Center for Modern Greece at the Freie Universität Berlin (FU Berlin) and the Association of the Greek Scientist of Berlin and Brandenburg SEESOX co-sponsored the conference “New Greek emigration” which took place in Berlin on 14-15 October 2017.

Adopting an interdisciplinary perspective, the conference explored a multiplicity of aspects surrounding the new Greek emigration and catalyzed the discussion and interaction between the academic community, related associations and governmental institutions, and the migrants themselves. The conference, comprising 6 session with 18 papers, two roundtables and open discussion events, was organized around three main thematic pillars namely, ‘mapping the new Greek emigration’, ‘processes of socioeconomic inclusion in host societies’ and ‘sociocultural dimensions of the new Greek emigration’. Antonis Kamaras presented the paper “Βrain drain, brain gain and the larger Diaspora” and Manoils Pratsinakis the paper “the social integration of new Greek migrants in the Netherlands”
