The panel will include Othon Anastasakis, the Director of SEESOX and Principal Investigator of the project, Manolis Pratsinakis, Departmental Lecturer in Migration Studies and Deputy Coordinator of the project and Alexander Sarrigeorgiou Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Eurolife FFH and Chair of the SEESOX Hellenic Advisory Board.
The title of the panel is "Greek Homeland-Diaspora Relations in Times of Uncertainty: Towards New Modes of Engagement" and it will address the way in which Greece has reshaped its relations with its Diaspora in the period country’s prolonged financial crisis. Emphasis will be placed on repatriation, the expansion of transnational ties and brain gain, the vote of Greeks abroad and the role of diasporic institutions. On a broader level the panelist will reflect on the how an emerging global environment characterized by a series of crises, geopological instability as well as increasing digitalization and transnational interaction is impacting on homeland-diaspora relations for Greece and more widely.
